About The Role

The Role

Gateley Vinden is seeking a full-time Senior Building Surveyor to join our expanding team. This dynamic role involves supporting our UK-wide surveying team on various projects, primarily focusing on commercial buildings across all construction types.

Responsibilities

1. Inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of commercial buildings and sites.
2. Prepare reports, schedules of works, and specifications.
3. Design and oversee works using recognized building contracts and current technical standards.
4. Act as Lead Consultant and/or Project Manager on larger projects, coordinating other consultants as needed.
5. Understand and apply relevant legislation, including health and safety, party wall, building regulations, Building Safety Act, and planning.
6. Promote the company's services and the Gateley Vinden brand to secure projects.
7. Understand property and construction legal documents such as development agreements and leases.
8. Inspect and prepare dilapidations schedules and liability assessments, negotiating on behalf of landlords and tenants.
9. Support APC candidates to foster knowledge and understanding.
10. Comply with company policies, health and safety regulations, and procedures.

The Person

Candidates should demonstrate:

• MRICS accreditation
• Experience and knowledge of engineering, surveying, architectural, and planning practices, with awareness of statutory requirements and technical publications
• Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing
• Preferred experience in insurance repair projects
• Negotiation, supervisory, and leadership skills
• Ability to work within deadlines and budgets on large projects
• Knowledge of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall, and Building Regulation legislation
• Strong mathematical, scientific, and IT skills with methodical problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Flexible attitude towards work
