Job summary

A leading surveying firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor responsible for complex project management and surveying duties. You will lead projects, manage client relationships, and conduct condition surveys, ensuring that projects meet quality and safety standards. The role requires a degree in Building Surveying and MRICS accreditation or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate has strong client management skills and a minimum of 5 years in construction consultancy. This position offers a dynamic work environment with travel for site visits.

Job description

The role of a Senior Building Surveyor is to perform more complex project management and professional surveying duties through every stage of a client commission.

Key Accountabilities
  • Leading projects effectively to meet time, cost and quality targets.
  • Provide assistance and support for the team.
  • Assist asset management reviews of client.
  • Key client account management collaborate with client to achieve optimum outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with clients to achieve long term goals.
  • When advised deputise duties of Line Manager when absent.
  • Manage condition surveys of existing building stock to record condition and write follow up report accordingly.
  • Oversight and submission of tender packs including tender drawings, specification and scheduling of works, principal designer/ health and safety as required.
  • Organise tenders to contractors accordingly and conduct analysis of tenders once received back from contractors.
  • Raise and issue construction contracts (JCT).
  • Organise and lead pre-contract briefing visits.
  • Operationally responsible for site inspections to assess the health & safety, whether the project is on program, quality of work etc and report accordingly to the client.
  • Chair and minute external and internal project meetings.
  • Actively contribute to relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Managing fee projection for various projects in a timely manner and issue fee invoices in line with targets.
  • Utilise Deltek and other companywide systems for storing project, client information and personal data to an Attend mandatory training, meet and record CPD professional standards.
  • Travel required for the undertaking of site visits, surveys and client meetings.
  • Subject to business requirements, flexibility to perform any other duties at the same level of accountabilities and responsibilities.
Specialist Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying.
  • MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation or at least 5 years PQE in construction consultancy/industryexperience.
