Senior Automation Engineer

Location: Fully remote within the UK

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 fixed + bonus (£5K - £10K) + benefits (detailed below)

Travel: Approx. 35–40% annually (UK & occasional EU travel)

The Opportunity

This position offers the chance to work on diverse, customer-driven automation projects across multiple industries. You’ll be responsible for the full project lifecycle — from design through implementation and commissioning — using technologies such as PLCs, DCS, SCADA, MES, and historian systems.

The role suits a hands-on engineer who enjoys technical challenge, client interaction, and seeing projects through from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control system software for PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, and historian platforms.
  • Create detailed design documentation and system architecture specifications.
  • Design and test electrical control panels to meet compliance and safety standards.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Lead site commissioning activities for both software and hardware components.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure high-quality, compliant automation solutions.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial automation or control systems.
  • Strong programming experience with PLC / DCS platforms and SCADA configuration.
  • Experience with systems such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, or Emerson DeltaV preferred.
  • Familiarity with validation protocols and quality standards within regulated industries.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Degree in Electrical, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally Europe (approx. 35–40% per year).
