Job description

Position Overview

A government body is seeking a Senior Associate Lawyer to join their public law team to focus on criminal litigation work. This is a full‑time role, for an initial 6‑month contract and requires 2 days a week in their London office (Southwark).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct litigation in criminal proceedings, primarily fare evasion prosecutions and prosecutions under taxi and private hire vehicle legislation.
• Potential advocacy in magistrates’ courts if required.
• Draft and review witness statements, manage disclosure, and correspond with litigants or their representatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years PQE as a lawyer.
• Demonstrable criminal litigation experience.
• Experience in public and regulatory law and/or familiarity with compliance and enforcement is desirable.

Day Rate

£343.53 + holiday per day PAYE or £525.72 per day Umbrella
