Senior Asset Surveyor

Hourly Rate: Negotiable
Location: Leicester (Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office)
Job Type: Temporary

Reed is currently representing a council in Leicester in their search for an interim Senior Asset Surveyor. This role is crucial for the 'Investing in Leicestershire Program' (IiLP), focusing on the council's commercial portfolio. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing and optimising the performance of a diverse range of assets including offices, industrial spaces, rural estates, and development land.

Day-to-Day of the Role
  • Develop and implement asset management and investment strategies to maximise income streams and minimise expenditures.
  • Proactively manage the commercial asset portfolio to ensure all assets are fit for purpose and aligned with the council's strategic goals.
  • Support in negotiating leases, lease renewals, and rent reviews, and manage property inspections and dilapidation schedules.
  • Monitor expenditure and prepare accounts for service charges, including the issuing of instructions and orders for work and services.
  • Provide strategic asset management advice and support to the council, elected members, and external partners.
  • Prepare and contribute to the annual IiLP Report and the Corporate Asset Management Plan.
  • Represent the Strategic Property Services at various internal and external meetings and working groups.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Land Management or a related field.
  • Full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Significant post‑qualification experience in asset management of various property types.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in financial analysis, lease management, and operational management of assets.
  • Experience in local government settings is highly desirable.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid driving licence due to the requirement to attend various sites.
