Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual accounts summary for reports.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors.
  • Interpret and analyze KPIs for managers.
  • Provide leadership and management of finance and payroll functions.

VANRATH are pleased to be exclusively recruiting for a Senior Accountant for a large, public sector body based in Ballymena. The vacancy has arisen to cover a departing secondment who plays a key role in the central finance team and ideally requires an immediate start to permit a full handover. This role will lead to extension for a good performer, and ideally the appointment could lead to a long-term interim or permanent appointment.

About you
  • Full membership of one of the five professional accounting institutes within the CCAB, or CIMA.
  • A minimum of 1 year post qualifying experience in a management role in a complex organisation
  • Experience in working with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for a minimum of 2 years
  • Proven high level people management, governance, leadership and organisational skills for a minimum of 2 years
What you'll do
  • Maintaining effective financial controls and delivery of financial accounting, payroll and financial management information for the organisation
  • Support the Director of Finance in the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Develop and maintain systems and controls for the accurate recording of all transactions, expenditure, accruals, and prepayments
  • Prepare annual accounts summary and commentary for annual reports
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors on annual accounts and audit plans
  • Interpret and analyse KPI's for managers in accordance with the organisation's requirements
  • Provide leadership and day to day management of the finance and payroll functions, delivering a high-quality financial management service
