Job description

Job Title: Senior Accountant / Client Advisory Lead

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: £60,000 + Performance Bonus + Equity Pathway

Reports to: Partner

About the Firm

Our client is a modern, partner‑led accounting and advisory practice working with a wide mix of SMEs, private companies, and high‑net‑worth individuals. With a highly regarded London office and a reputation for technical excellence, they combine traditional practice expertise with proactive, commercially‑minded client support.

Now, they are building their Edinburgh office into a flagship hub—and are looking for someone who wants to be at the centre of that growth.

Why This Role Is Unique

This is not a standard practice role. It’s an opportunity for a qualified accountant who wants:

  • Autonomy – genuine influence over how the Edinburgh team grows.
  • Impact – build and shape an office from a small, highly capable team into a thriving practice.
  • Equity & long‑term progression – a clear route to becoming a key senior figure in the firm.
  • Variety – ownership of client relationships, complex accounts, and strategic advisory work.
  • Collaboration – cross‑office support from an established London team as the Edinburgh hub scales.

It’s ideal for someone coming from a small or mid‑sized practice background—or someone in a large firm who is ready to escape the bureaucracy and make their mark.

Role Overview

As Senior Accountant / Client Advisory Lead, you will take ownership of a client portfolio while helping to grow the Edinburgh office. You will handle full accounts preparation, deliver proactive client advice, and serve as a trusted partner for business owners and senior stakeholders.

This role suits someone who enjoys both technical delivery and developing long‑term client relationships. You’ll work closely with the Partner and collaborate with the London team while acting as a key figure in expanding the Edinburgh presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review full statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Provide clear, practical advice across accounting, tax, and general business matters.
  • Analyse financial information to spot risks, opportunities, efficiencies, and growth levers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Support client onboarding and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior team members as the office grows.
  • Play an active role in shaping and expanding the Edinburgh practice.

You will thrive in this role if you are motivated by responsibility, growth, and genuine autonomy.
