This Accounts & Audit Manager role involves overseeing the delivery of statutory accounts, audit, and tax compliance for a varied client portfolio while managing and developing junior team members. The position offers strong client exposure, leadership responsibility, and clear progression within a growing practice.

Client Details

The firm works with a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses across a range of sectors, including small companies, growing SMEs, and entrepreneurial clients. Clients value clear communication, reliable delivery, and practical support, often relying on the firm as an extension of their finance function. You will work closely with business owners, finance contacts, and external stakeholders, helping clients maintain accurate financial records, meet compliance deadlines, and improve their internal systems. The client base provides variety and challenge, offering exposure to different accounting systems, VAT schemes, and business models in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Description
  • Manage the preparation and review of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and charities
  • Oversee management accounts preparation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery
  • Supervise bookkeeping processes and ensure effective use of cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Maintain strong knowledge of statutory disclosure requirements and accounts production software
  • Lead or support audit assignments where required, from planning through to completion
  • Provide practical tax support across corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, VAT, CIS, and PAYE
  • Contribute to tax planning work for individuals and owner‑managed businesses
  • Research and advise on more complex accounting and tax matters
  • Act as a key contact for HMRC, including handling enquiries and correspondence
  • Manage, mentor, and develop junior staff, including workflow planning, budgeting, and performance support
Profile
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with experience gained in accountancy practice
  • Strong background across accounts preparation and audit, with flexibility to specialise further over time
  • Confident managing a varied client portfolio and acting as a trusted adviser
  • Well‑rounded technical knowledge across core business taxes
  • Proven experience leading or supervising teams and supporting junior development
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of work and client relationships
