Overview

Rotheram Carrington Financial Recruitment is supporting a growing SME business based in the Wrexham area, which are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This business is growing both organically and through acquisition.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Accountant will take ownership of the operational finance for two entities with a combined turnover of £7m. This is a hands-on position covering month-end, year-end, cashflow, VAT, and financial controls, while also building commercial insight and partnering with both MDs of the two entities. As the group grows through acquisitions, the role will evolve, offering exposure to integration and systems/process improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process for two entities, preparing accounts for review by the Group Director of Finance
  • Manage the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors.
  • Oversee VAT returns, ledger reconciliations, fixed asset register, and cashflow forecasting.
  • Work with and review outputs of the Management Accountant and support development of the wider finance team (including Accounts Assistant).
  • Identify and implement efficiencies in systems and controls (currently Sage).
  • Provide insightful management information to non-financial stakeholders, translating numbers into meaningful analysis.
  • Partner with operations line manager to support and monitor the progress of projects, ensuring revenue recognition and payment milestones are tracked
  • Collaborate with the Group Consolidation team on reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance in the potential integration of new acquisitions into the UK
Qualifications
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Proven experience in a similar accounting role
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong grasp of accounting fundamentals.
  • Proficient in Excel, ability to work with financial models, sum ifs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a wider finance team.
Salary/Benefits
  • £50,000 to £60,000 per annum
  • 25 days holiday, plus bank holiday
  • Hybrid (2 days WFH) however, these are not set days, and flexibility is required to fit in with business needs
