SEND Teacher (PMLD / SLD - KS3 / KS4)

Location : Croydon, Outer London

Contract : 4 / 5 days per week - Long-term supply role with the possibility of a permanent contract

Start Date : ASAP OR January start

Salary : M1 - M6 Outer London (DOE, paid to scale) plus SEN points

We are working in partnership with this wonderful specialist school to recruit an experienced and compassionate SEND Teacher to lead a KS3 / KS4 PMLD / SLD class.

This Teacher role is available on a 4 or 5 day-per-week basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You’ll plan and deliver engaging, multi-sensory lessons, supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants and on-site therapists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised, accessible learning for pupils with PMLD / SLD in line with EHCP outcomes.
  • Use a range of communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, symbols, sensory resources).
  • Work closely with support staff, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists.
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Record and report on pupil progress, engagement, and wellbeing.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) - essential.
  • Experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, or complex medical / physical needs.
  • Excellent understanding of differentiation, sensory learning, and engagement strategies.
  • Calm, empathetic, and flexible teaching style.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
