Job summary

A leading educational service provider in Bridgwater seeks SEND Specialist Tutors to provide 1:1 bespoke tuition to young people with SEND who cannot access mainstream education. Tutors will be responsible for creating tailored lessons and supporting students' reintegration into school. Part-time roles available, with a starting pay of £25+ per hour.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent required.
  • Must have UK classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience with disengaged pupils is essential.

Overview

SEND Specialist Tutor Job Opportunity - Bridgwater

Prospero Teaching is looking for SEND Specialist Tutors to deliver bespoke tuition packages on a 1:1 basis to young people with SEND that cannot currently access mainstream education.

Responsibilities

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupil education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, continue their educational development and support reintegration into school. The tuition replaces school for these young people and is normally part-time, taking place during school hours, five days a week.

  • Location - Various locations across Bridgwater
  • Position - SEND Specialist Tutor

  • Duration - Until the pupil is able to reintegrate into a mainstream/special school
  • End date (if applicable) - N/A
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Full-time/part-time - Part time (a minimum of 6 hours per week, per student)
  • Minimum rate of pay - £25+ per hour (negotiable)
  • Hours - Working hours can differentiate, depending on the convenient timings of the family
Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • QTS or equivalent
  • Possess UK classroom teaching experience
  • PECS/Makaton training preferred but not essential
  • Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
  • Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
Eligibility to Apply
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child DBS certificate with online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references
