SEND Child Support Worker
Location: Scunthorpe
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £90 £115 per day

TeacherActive is working alongside a supportive and forward-thinking provision in Scunthorpe, rated Good by Ofsted, to recruit a caring and dedicated SEND Child Support Worker. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact on children with a range of special educational needs, behavioural challenges and difficulties in regulating emotions.

About the Role:

As a SEND Child Support Worker, you ll work closely with pupils who require extra support due to additional learning, communication, sensory, or social needs. Your role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to KS3 and KS4 children with SEND
  • Helping pupils access learning and participate fully in classroom activities
  • Supporting children with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction
  • Using visual aids, structured routines, and sensory strategies to meet individual needs
  • Assisting with personal care when required
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where children can build confidence and independence
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children in SEND settings, hospitals, schools, nurseries, or alternative provisions, and will:

  • Bring patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children
  • Be confident working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, or developmental delays
  • Understand the value of structure, clear communication, and consistency
  • Be reliable, resilient, and committed to helping children achieve their full potential
  • Be open to learning new skills and support strategies
