Salary: £20 - £30 an hour Depending on experience

TeacherActive are recruiting for strong SEN Tutors in the Lewisham area.

In this role, you will be working on a one to one basis, or in small groups with pupils that have SEMH and ASD needs. This may be in education settings or other venues such as libraries or at the home of the pupil.

Due to the nature and the complexities that are attached to each referral, we are unable to go into specific details on each role. The Alternative Provision are looking for people to start immediately. We have a full time position.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 or small group tutoring sessions with pupils who have SEMH and ASD needs, in education settings or alternative venues (e.g., libraries or pupil homes).
  • Work independently in various environments and with different students’ abilities.
  • Engage with children and families effectively to build trust and rapport.
  • Differentiate the curriculum in a creative and bespoke manner, with strong KS3/KS4 knowledge.
  • Adapt sessions to meet the needs of students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree, and/or prior experience working alongside pupils with SEND.
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge or understanding of SEMH, ASC, or related learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Ability to connect with children and families and build trusting relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to various working environments and differing student abilities.
  • Practical approach to the needs of students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a caring attitude.
  • Flexibility in working patterns.
