Job description
SEN Tribunal Officer
  • Duration : 3-6 months - potential to be extended
  • Fully Remote, full time
  • Rate : £300-400 per day (umbrella, inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities
Case Management
  • Oversee and coordinate cases related to SEN appeals and tribunals.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory timelines and tribunal procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case records and documentation.
Advice & Guidance
  • Provide clear information and advice to parents, carers, schools, and professionals regarding tribunal processes.
  • Support families in understanding their rights under SEND legislation.
Liaison & Coordination
  • Act as the main point of contact between the Local Authority, schools, legal representatives, and the tribunal service.
  • Coordinate contributions from educational psychologists, SEN teams, and other relevant professionals.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Draft written responses and statements for tribunal cases.
  • Gather, review, and present evidence to support the Local Authority’s position.
  • Ensure high-quality reports are submitted within required deadlines.
Representation
  • Attend tribunal hearings, presenting the Local Authority’s case where appropriate.
  • Support legal representatives and witnesses during hearings.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure decisions and processes comply with SEN legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Contribute to reviewing tribunal outcomes and identifying learning to improve future practice.
  • Support staff training and awareness on tribunal processes and legal obligations.
