Interim SEND Complaints & Tribunals Specialist

Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week on site
Contract: Short-term Interim Assignment
Start: Immediate
Hours: Part-time

Reducing the volume of complaints and tribunals is a foremost corporate priority, and we seek a seasoned specialist to provide swift, high-level support within our SEND service. This interim appointment is designed to bring immediate expertise and additional capacity to address a current backlog, rather than to form part of a long-term or permanent structure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the resolution of complex SEND complaints and tribunal matters.
  • Undertake thorough case reviews to ensure timely and lawful responses.
  • Provide expert guidance to internal teams on SEND legislation, statutory duties, and best practice.
  • Support service improvements aimed at reducing future complaint and tribunal escalation.
  • Work closely with families, advocates, and external partners to achieve fair and robust outcomes.
Essential Experience
  • A demonstrable and successful track record in managing SEND complaints and tribunal processes.
  • Deep working knowledge of the Children and Families Act, SEND Code of Practice, and associated statutory frameworks.
  • Experience of representing a local authority or equivalent body within tribunal settings.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.
