Long-Term Role | January Start | MUST HAVE Phonics Experience

Are you a passionate, skilled, and proactive Teaching Assistant with strong phonics knowledge and a desire to make a meaningful impact on children's communication and learning? A friendly, supportive primary school in Waltham Forest is searching for an exceptional Speech & Language TA to join their team from January on a full-time, long-term basis.

This vibrant and inclusive school prides itself on nurturing confident, enthusiastic learners. As their new Speech & Language TA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication needs—boosting progress, confidence, and classroom engagement.

Your role will include:
  • Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have speech and language delays.
  • Delivering targeted interventions designed by the school's Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Using your strong phonics background to reinforce early reading and communication.
  • Supporting pupils with vocabulary, comprehension, articulation, and expressive language.
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers, SENCO, and external specialists.
  • Keeping track of pupil progress and contributing to support plans.
What we're looking for:
  • A Teaching Assistant with solid phonics experience (Read Write Inc, Jolly Phonics, Little Wandle or similar).
  • Experience supporting children with speech, language, or communication needs.
  • Someone patient, enthusiastic, calm, and confident.
  • A team-player who can take initiative and build positive working relationships.
  • A commitment to making learning accessible and enjoyable for every child.
