Job Description

Veritas Education is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant for a long-term role in a welcoming primary school in Blackburn. This position involves providing 1:1 support for two pupils – one in Year 2 and one in Year 5 – both with ADHD and ASD. The role offers a varied and rewarding day, combining academic support, movement-based strategies, and emotional regulation techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver consistent 1:1 support tailored to each child's individual needs
  • Implement movement breaks and sensory strategies to support focus and regulation
  • Provide intervention support, particularly in English, using modelling and scaffolding techniques
  • Support the Year 2 pupil with single letter sounds and early phonics development
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure effective support
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification, such as Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with ADHD, ASD, or similar additional needs
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to learning and behaviour support
  • Confidence in delivering interventions and adapting learning materials
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
