Are you ready to join a highly-regarded and specialist school team in Gidea Park and play an essential part in unlocking each student's potential?

If you are looking for a rewarding career move where your compassion makes a difference every single day, we encourage you to apply now!

A fantastic opportunity is available for a proactive and committed SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an established and specialist SEN school in the heart of Gidea Park.

This role is crucial to the provision of high-quality, personalised education. You will be offering one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of diverse and complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Your daily efforts will directly contribute to fostering a stable, inclusive, and enriching learning experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide vital, tailored support to students, helping them to engage with differentiated tasks, manage sensory inputs, and participate actively in lessons.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., therapists) to adapt resources, set up specialised activities, and ensure the learning space meets sensory and practical needs.
  • Implement specific therapeutic and communication strategies outlined in students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), which may include non-verbal communication methods.
  • Act as a consistent emotional anchor, employing calm de-escalation techniques and promoting functional communication during moments of distress.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and accurate reporting on pupil progress, engagement, and overall holistic development.
  • Assist with pupils' mobility, personal care, and feeding needs as required, ensuring all tasks are carried out with utmost professionalism, dignity, and respect.
Requirements
  • Proven experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a specialist SEN setting or with pupils with complex learning difficulties, is essential.
  • A naturally calm, compassionate, and highly resilient nature, with a genuine enthusiasm for the specialist educational environment.
  • The ability to quickly establish strong, professional, and trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and observational skills, particularly in noting and responding to non-verbal cues.
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
What We Offer
  • A competitive daily rate of £90 - £110.
  • The chance to work within a highly supportive, specialist school community in Gidea Park, with a clear commitment to staff training and welfare.
  • Access to specialist CPD (Continuous Professional Development) and ongoing training specific to the needs of the pupils (e.g., manual handling, positive behaviour support).
  • A deeply rewarding role that provides profound daily fulfilment by directly enhancing the educational outcomes and quality of life for vulnerable young people.
  • £300 Refer A Friend scheme (terms apply).
