Overview

Are you an experienced and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role within a specialist provision in a primary school? Flourish Education are working in partnership with a welcoming Primary School in Oldbury, who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their SEN Nest provision. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with additional needs and managing low-level challenging behaviours within a structured, supportive environment. The SEN Nest supports up to 8 pupils with low-level SEN needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. You will work as part of a small, supportive team alongside other Teaching Assistants and a Class Teacher, helping to deliver targeted support and maintain a calm, positive learning space.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with low-level SEN needs within the SEN Nest provision.
  • Assisting the Class Teacher with the delivery of structured learning activities.
  • Helping pupils to regulate emotions and manage low-level challenging behaviours.
  • Providing consistent, nurturing support to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Supporting pupils with transitions between activities and reintegration into mainstream classes where appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt strategies.
Required Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils in a Primary or SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
  • A good understanding of the KS1 and/or KS2 curriculum.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour support.
  • A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.
  • A minimum of two excellent references.

  • Competitive salary – £17,339.40 to £19,500 per annum, based on working 5 days a week for a full school year.
