About the Role

Are you the kind of teacher who believes every child deserves to be seen, understood, and given the chance to thrive? Then this may be the role for you!

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Classroom Teacher to lead a specialist provision class for autistic children within a mainstream primary school in North West London. This is a dedicated setting, currently supported by four skilled Teaching Assistants. The role requires a teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly autism, who can offer structured, personalised learning while working toward the ultimate goal of reintegrating students into their year-group classrooms.

This is a key position within the school’s SEN team and will suit a candidate who is confident in delivering short, targeted lessons and managing a small but diverse class with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a specialist class for autistic children, supported by four experienced Teaching Assistants
  • Deliver short, focused lessons and targeted interventions in:
    • Phonics
    • Maths
    • Writing
  • Develop and implement individual learning plans, addressing both communication and academic development
  • Support students’ social integration and independence, with the long-term goal of reintegration into mainstream classrooms
  • Liaise closely with the SENCO, senior leadership, and external professionals to monitor progress and adapt provision accordingly
The Students
  • All students are autistic, with a range of needs from non-speaking to emerging language
  • Mixed-age group: Year 1 to Year 4
  • Wide variation in academic ability
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with proven experience working in SEN settings, especially with children on the autism spectrum
  • Confident in leading a team and providing a structured, nurturing learning environment
  • Skilled in delivering individualised interventions and adapting lessons for diverse learning profiles
  • Committed to the principle of inclusion, with a track record of helping children transition into mainstream learning environments
  • Collaborative, reflective, and resilient in the face of challenges
What The School Offers
  • A supportive team environment with a strong commitment to SEN inclusion
  • Ongoing CPD and SEN-specific training opportunities
  • A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs
  • A well-resourced setting with strong TA support
  • Involvement in a school community that prioritises child-centred education and staff well-being
