Full time SEN Teacher – Caerphilly, Hengoed

Teaching Personnel are looking for a qualified teacher to work in a specialised school for pupils with Additional Learning Needs, this is across the age ranges of 3-19 but delivering primary curriculum. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to continue or begin their career with Special Educational Needs.

The school caters for a variety of additional needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). The class sizes are small, usually ranging between 5-10 pupils in one class. The successful candidate will deliver a variety of lessons that cover the curriculum whilst allowing for creativity and independence and will be required to identify the educational requirements of all children. Sensory learning is a key part of the school day for many of the pupils, therefore the classes need to be interactive and multi-sensory led to cater for all needs.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30

Pay starting from £172.98 per day (as per the national framework for Wales).

Qualifications required: Degree with QTS, PGCE with QTS or equivalent for UK.

The ideal SEN teacher will have:

  • Experience working as a primary or secondary teacher supporting pupils with SEN, however the school are happy to support you in your induction to SEN if you can demonstrate a passion to supporting children with special educational needs.
  • A commitment to supporting SEN pupils reach their full potential.
  • A clear understanding of the concept of inclusion to promote inclusive culture, policies and practices within their classroom and wider school.
  • The ability to create personal and tailored lesson plans based on students individual needs and learning styles whilst being able to adapt effectively to ensure learning is accessible for all.
  • Collaborate with staff members, other educational professionals, and parents to develop strategies for student success.
  • Care for the pupils physical, emotional, and social needs which may also include personal care.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
