Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teacher to join a special school in Handsworth. This school supports a diverse cohort of learners ranging from EYFS to Post‑16, all of whom have complex needs, including Autism (ASC) and challenging behaviours.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a setting that prioritises development and individualised learning pathways. For the right candidate, this "temporary" placement has a clear path to a permanent contract.

Location: Handsworth, Birmingham

Rate: £170 - £220 per day (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full‑time or Part‑time (Temp‑to‑Perm)

Start Date: Immediate

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons that cater to a wide range of needs
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach) to support students with challenging behaviours.
• Collaborate with Speech and Language Therapists, OTs, and parents to ensure EHCP targets are met.
• Create a sensory‑conscious and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning for pupils with ASC.

Requirements

• QTS
• You must have a proven track record of working with complex needs and ASC.
• Ability to teach across different key stages if required (EYFS to Post‑16).
• Proficiency in or willingness to use alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
