SEN Teaching Assistant – PMLD & Personal Care
Location: Greenwich
Pay: £95-£115 per day

We are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in a specialist or specialist provision setting in Greenwich. This role is ideal for someone with a strong care background or experience supporting children with complex needs who is confident with personal care and physical support.

You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and feel safe, supported, and valued throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with PMLD
  • Support with personal care, including toileting, feeding and hygiene routines
  • Assist with physical support and mobility where required
  • Use sensory-based activities and communication strategies to engage pupils
  • Promote emotional regulation, comfort and wellbeing
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and SEN staff as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain a calm, nurturing and structured environment
Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex needs
  • Comfortable and confident with personal care and hands‑on support
  • Background in SEN, care, or health support (school or care setting)
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
