Overview

SEN Secondary Teacher – Hackney, East London

£(Apply online only) per week (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications). Start date: SEPT 2025.

An Outstanding SEND school in Hackney, East London is seeking a dedicated SEND Teacher to join their team, supporting a Key Stage 3/4 class with 9 primary-aged students.

The school is a vibrant learning community, offering education for 4-19 year-olds with highly specialised provisions for learners with autism.

The school places each child's individual needs and goals at the centre of their work, underpinning a bespoke child-centred curriculum designed to create a learning environment that is ambitious, communicative, opportunity-rich, resilient, and responsive to individual needs.

The school is committed to creating personalised learning pathways that address the unique needs and aspirations of every student, designed to encourage enjoyment, confidence, active participation, and the development of essential life skills.

Responsibilities

The role involves teaching in a non-mainstream environment and delivering inclusive, engaging, and inspiring lessons for a Key Stage 3/4 class. You will work within a specialised setting to support learners with SEND and autism, ensuring lessons are creative and responsive to individual needs.

Qualifications
  • Be passionate about teaching in a non-mainstream environment and embrace the unique opportunities provided by a special school setting.
  • Demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach, using creativity to deliver inclusive, engaging, and inspiring lessons.
  • Hold a recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS or QTLS).
  • Have experience or a strong interest in working with children with SEND, gained through Initial Teacher Training (ITT) or other opportunities.
