The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for teaching Science to secondary-aged pupils at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will join an existing Science department, working alongside the senior leadership team to deliver an engaging and differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and/or Autism.

The school provides a nurturing environment where the focus is on building positive relationships and promoting student self-esteem and resilience.

Ongoing training and support will be provided to help you succeed in this rewarding setting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering a flexible Science curriculum to individuals and small groups of pupils.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of your students.
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils based on confidence, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Managing challenging behaviour effectively, in line with the school's policies.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils at all times.
The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will be a dedicated and emotionally resilient teacher. You will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (Essential).
  • Experience teaching Science to secondary-aged pupils (Essential).
  • The ability to deliver a flexible and differentiated curriculum.
  • A high level of resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Previous experience in a SEND setting (Essential).
