General SEN Teacher

Location and School Overview

We have a rare opportunity to join one of the country's largest Special Schools for young people with a diagnosis of Autism and Speech and Language Disorders. The split-site school is located in the Derbyshire countryside, catering for approximately 120 young people in Years 4-14.

The School's most recent OFSTED inspection in July 2025 graded the school as Outstanding in all areas.

Salary and Position Details

Salary – Main scale M1-UPS3 PLUS an additional SEN point

0.8 FTE (4 days per week). Position commencing after the Easter holidays, April 2026.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of subjects on the Lower Site for Key Stage Three and Year 10 students.
  • Support Key Stage 2 practitioners as many of our Key Stage 3 learners have missed significant curriculum time.
  • Teach across the subjects of English, Maths, Science, Music, Technology, Humanities and more.
  • Collaborate with a large, dedicated Learning Support Worker team and highly specialised Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Participate in a comprehensive CPD programme and reflect on practice.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified teacher suitable for Key Stage 3 curriculum.
  • Open to fully qualified teachers, ECTs or experienced colleagues.
  • Experience within SEND or mainstream schools favoured but not essential.
  • Desirable qualities: adaptability, integrity, hard work, resilience and a deep desire to educate young people to reach their potential.
