  • De-escalation & Support: Utilise positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques (such as Team-Teach or Price) to manage high-anxiety situations and challenging behaviours.
  • Individualised Planning: Work from EHCPs to ensure every student has a personalised pathway toward academic and emotional success.
  • Nurturing Environment: Foster a classroom culture based on mutual respect, clear boundaries, and emotional safety.
  • Community Liaison: Work with local Southend support services and families to ensure a consistent approach to the student's welfare.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven Experience: A background in SEMH, PRUs, or Youth Work is highly desirable.
  • Resilient Character: The ability to "start every day fresh" and maintain a positive outlook despite daily challenges.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication skills to connect with hard-to-reach learners.
  • Local Knowledge: Proximity to Southend-on-Sea and an understanding of the local demographic is an advantage.
  • Compliance: You must possess an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and be able to provide a full 10-year career history.
