What you'll do

As Security Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students, staff and visitors. You will supervise a team of Security Officers, coordinate daily operations, and ensure that security procedures are consistently applied across campus.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll combine leadership duties with active patrolling, incident response and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, support and develop the Security Officer team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service.
  • Oversee daily security operations, including patrols, CCTV monitoring, access control and incident response.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for security‑related issues, providing clear guidance and decision‑making.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations and follow‑up actions, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Work closely with Estates, Facilities, Safeguarding, Student Support and external partners to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies, safeguarding requirements, and relevant legislation.
  • Promote a positive, reassuring security presence that supports a welcoming campus culture.
Who we're looking for

You’ll be someone who is organised, proactive and committed to delivering excellent service. You will bring:

  • Experience in an estates, facilities, maintenance or building operations role.
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support others.
  • Good understanding of health & safety, statutory compliance and safe working practices.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to complete a range of operational tasks.
  • The confidence to liaise with contractors, manage workflows and follow up on outstanding actions.
