We have a vacancy for a motivated, proactive and adaptable lead nurse.
The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service is a busy and dynamic environment, providing assessment and management for patients presenting with a wide range of medical problems.
This post holder will be the Lead Nurse for SDEC within Acute Medicine cross site at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
You will be working as part of the wider Acute Medical team, developing the skills to provide direction, clinical expertise, advice and support to the Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit, ensuring the provision of high‑quality, person‑centred care to acutely ill patients that arrive from GPs or the Emergency Department. The postholder will also have involvement with service and pathway improvement as part of our values streams programme.
The successful candidate will be based in the SDEC overseeing and managing the flow of patients. They will need to maintain high standards of patient care within a high‑risk area, and be able to work closely with the ED and AMU teams.
The post holder will be managing and overseeing a team of SDEC staff comprising Band 6 and Band 5 nurses, and health care assistants. You will need to be dynamic and be able to drive change and implement new pathways and processes. The post holder will need to be adaptable to travel between the two sites and manage their workloads across the two sites accordingly.
