Scrub Practitioner - Nurse

We are looking to recruit Band 5 Scrub Practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Key Duties:

• Undertake all activities in a professional and proficient manner, including mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure.
• Carry out scrub duties according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence based practice.
• Assemble, check, prepare, and coordinate the use of surgical equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures.
• Act in the circulating role, and promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.

Our Theatre Practitioners work towards providing high quality patient care within the perioperative setting. We welcome both experience and non‑experience staff to join our supportive team. Training can also be provided to support newly registered practitioners and to those who are looking for a new career direction.

Work as part of theatre team to assist or circulate for surgical procedures. Work competently in a variety of specialities for Paediatric and adult patients. To practice in accordance with the NMC / HCPC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust policies and procedures. Work within the Operating Theatre and Maternity undertaking competencies as required. To be an effective team member. Promote interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interests of patients and cohesive service delivery. Participate in clinical supervision/appraisals/audits. Take every opportunity to sustain and improve own knowledge and professional competence, reporting to senior staff any deficits that impinge on practice in a timely fashion whilst meeting the needs of the service. Implement and evaluate care plans as appropriate to surgical requirement and patients condition.
