Are you a science graduate with a passion for supporting education? Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Technician to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Oldham.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of a dynamic science department, providing essential support to both teachers and students. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and setting up materials and equipment for practical science lessons
  • Assisting teachers during practical experiments where necessary
  • Maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment and apparatus
  • Ensuring safe storage and disposal of chemicals and biological specimens
  • Managing stock levels and placing orders as required
  • Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines and supporting risk assessments
Requirements
  • A degree in a science-related subject is essential - applicants without a science degree will not be considered
  • Previous experience in a school laboratory or similar environment is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with staff and students
  • An up-to-date DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to undergo one

This role is to start immediately, with an initial daily pay rate of 100 to 110, depending on experience. It is a fantastic opportunity for a recent science graduate looking to gain school-based experience, or for someone with a scientific background seeking a rewarding role in education.
