Job summary

An educational staffing agency in the UK is seeking a Science teacher to join an Alternative provision in Chesterfield starting Easter 2026. The role entails teaching Science to KS3 and Biology to KS4 pupils, in small classes with approximately 10 pupils. Applicants must have UK QTS, a passion for teaching disaffected pupils, and a full UK driver’s license. TeacherActive is proud to be working with a Alternative provision in Chesterfield who are looking to secure a Science teacher to start at Easter 2026.

This is a full time, temp to perm role.

The role will include teaching science to pupils in KS3 and Biology to pupils in KS4 and class sizes are small with around 10 pupils.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. An passion for working with pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding role.

A full and clean UK drivers licence and access to a car, is required with business insurance.

The ideal Food technology teacher will have:

  • UK QTS preferred
  • The ability to follow the National Curriculum and provide creative lessons
  • Positive approach to teaching
  • The ability to build good relationships with the staff and pupils
  • Fantastic classroom management
