Science Teacher

Location: Durham
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: January 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Durham from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed educator to inspire learners across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of scientific principles.

Role Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, delivering content in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; specialisms in any discipline are welcome.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where all students can thrive.
  • Differentiate lessons effectively to meet a variety of learning needs, including those requiring additional support.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, offering constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations, including GCSE content and practical investigations.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, development of resources, and continuous improvement within the Science department.
  • Support extracurricular or enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, or revision sessions where possible.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science at KS3-KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a combination of sciences.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication skills, and a passion for inspiring young learners.
