Job summary

A leading provider of special education and care is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead to support safeguarding across schools. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and a strong understanding of safeguarding policies. Responsibilities include collaborating with school leaders, delivering training, and leading safeguarding audits. A salary of £45,000 – £50,000 is offered, along with medical cover. This remote position requires travel across the North East and North West.

Overview

We are Witherslack Group, a leading provider of special education and care. You will support safeguarding across schools as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with DSLs, Head Teachers, and Safeguarding Lead to ensure robust safeguarding practice.
  • Support schools in the development and delivery of safeguarding training.
  • Lead safeguarding audits and support action plans from audit findings.
  • Provide expert advice to DSLs/DDSLs and manage safeguarding record keeping.
  • Contribute to partnership working between different teams within Witherslack Group.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a DSL in a school, with exposure to a variety of agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of national safeguarding policy, Keeping Children Safe in Education, and wider legislation.
  • Proven advisory and training skills, with a portfolio of CPD in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience of developing and delivering training and undertaking audits in relation to safeguarding.
Salary & Benefits

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience) plus medical cover.

Remote role – travel required across the North East and North West.
