Job description
School Crossing Patrol Officer – Hadleigh Junior School

Location: Hadleigh, Church Road, Benfleet. Employment type: Permanent, Part Time. Pay: £13.00 per hour.

Working style: Community-based worker.

Responsibilities
  • Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.
  • Provide a reliable and approachable presence, engaging with the public and promoting safe crossing practices.
  • Adhere to designated shift times: 45 minutes between 08:00‑09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45‑15:45 in the afternoon, for the 39 weeks of the academic year.
  • Attend and participate in any required training and maintain compliance with health and safety procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Punctual, reliable and able to work the specified shift times.
  • Approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.
  • Capable of working independently while representing Essex County Council.
  • Available to work in the 39 weeks of the academic year.
Additional Information

Uniform, equipment and training will be provided. The role includes a holiday pay element.
