School Crossing Officer - Danbury Park Community School

Type: Permanent, Part Time

Pay: £13.00 per hour

Location: Danbury

Support your community by joining Essex County Council’s School Crossing Patrol Team at Danbury Park Community School, Well Lane, Danbury CM3 4AB.

Assist with school crossings in the morning and afternoon, ensuring pedestrian safety.

We seek punctual, reliable, approachable individuals who enjoy engaging with the public.

This role involves approximately 7.5 hours per week, during the school term (39 weeks), with shifts of 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and afternoon (14:45 - 15:45). Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.

Responsibilities:
  • Consider the needs of disabled pedestrians, especially those with mobility impairments.
  • Maintain contact with schools served by the crossing.
  • Assess risks at the crossing site and report issues.
  • Assist in accident and incident reporting.
  • Maintain uniform and equipment in good condition.
  • Signal drivers to stop and ensure the crossing is clear of pedestrians.
