Job summary

A local education authority in Scotland is seeking a School Assistant for a fixed-term position. Overview

School Assistant, Sgoil Lionacleit — 17.5 hours per week, term time, fixed term position. Salary: £11,921 - £12,039 per annum, inclusive of £1,168 Distant Islands Allowance per annum.

The post holder will be required to provide clerical, classroom and general support to the school under the direction of the Headteacher and undertake pupil welfare and pupil supervision duties under the direction of the Headteacher.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a busy office environment and experience of working with young children.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and knowledge of Excel; ability to word process letters, memos, documents and reports and the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communicative skills with children and adults and excellent skills in oral communication, numeracy and writing.

  • The post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot).
  • The salary quoted is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade. This post is fixed term for the duration of the current post holder’s absence.
