Job summary

A leading R&D organisation is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support infrastructure design, build, and automation with strong Linux skills required. The role operates on a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days onsite in London, offering a day rate of £525 - £600. Ideal candidates will have experience in hardware-adjacent environments and good scripting knowledge, particularly in Python. This contract position will last for 6 months, and the client aims to onboard by early January.

iO Associates are partnered with a leading R&D organisation in their search for a DevOps Engineer with Active SC Clearance.

You'll be working close to the hardware and operating system, supporting the design, build and automation of the infrastructure.

Location: 2-3 days / week on-site in London
Day Rate: £525 - £600 / day Outside IR35
Contract: 6 Months

What we're looking for:
  • Strong Linux engineering skills (Ubuntu, RHEL or similar)

  • Proven experience in on-prem or hardware-adjacent environments

  • Strong programming/scripting skills (Python preferred, but Bash, Go, or similar also valued)

  • Good knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Ansible, CI/CD, GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, PowerShell, Git etc.)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals

  • A methodical, problem-solving mindset - able to diagnose difficult, low-level issues

  • Someone pragmatic, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast-moving build phase
