Job summary

A global insurance organization is seeking a Sanctions Specialist to provide sanctions advice and guidance. The role involves responding to sanctions inquiries, developing expertise, and supporting compliance with economic and trade sanctions. Candidates should have experience in the financial services sector and strong communication skills. This position is hybrid with 3 days weekly in the office and requires full right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in the insurance sector with good understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Proven sanctions advisory experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of economic and trade sanctions and export controls.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sanctions advice and guidance to the business.
  • Support compliance with UK and international sanctions.
  • Respond to sanctions-related enquiries and referrals.
  • Develop expertise to draft reports for internal and external use.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures for sanctions compliance.

Job description

Location: London, York or Norwich. Hybrid (3 days weekly in the office)

Salary: £45-55K + bonus and benefits

Lutine Bell are working with a Global Insurance organisation who are looking to appoint a Sanctions Specialist into their expanding Financial Crime team.

You will provide sanctions advice and guidance to the business areas and functions, as well as being involved in sanctions-related projects and workstreams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build key relationships so you can provide ongoing support and advice to the business in respect of sanctions referrals and enquiries
  • Provide sanctions advice to support the UK business’ compliance with applicable UK and international economic and trade sanctions and export controls
  • Respond to sanctions-related enquiries, referrals and escalations
  • Develop subject-matter expertise so you can respond to complex cases and draft reports for internal and external use
  • Support the development, maintenance and roll-out of Company policies, procedures and related processes supporting Sanctions compliance
What We’re Looking For
  • Sanctions experience within the financial services sector, with a broad understanding of UK and international economic and trade sanctions legislation including UK, EU, UN and US sanctions.
  • Experience of working in the insurance sector with a good understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Proven sanctions advisory experience
  • An excellent knowledge of economic and trade sanctions and export controls
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness to continually learn and upskill your knowledge of UK and international economic and trade sanctions legislation and export controls
