Overview
Sales Manager - DNA Sequencing. The role targets individuals with a bioscience education and a track record in analytical service sales to develop new clients and relationships within the biotechnology sector across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Develop new and existing relationships within the UK (70%) and rest of the world (30%).
- Work from a home office with frequent travel to customer sites and client lab facilities.
- Reactivate and build rapport with lapsed customers.
- Operate in a 95% new business sales role.
- Utilise industry platforms such as Contract Laboratory and Scientist.com to identify leads and potential customers.
- Sell a range of lab services including but not limited to gene sequencing and PCR to businesses involved with drug discovery.
- Build lasting relationships with Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies, contract research organisations, universities, and government or related organisations.
- Provide market intelligence feedback to the business and understand client pain points to offer solutions.
- Work through sales cycles typically 2-3 months with a goal to grow the business unit to over £2m within 5 years.
- Conduct lab tours with prospective clients to showcase capabilities.
About You / Qualifications
- Passion for developing business in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical sector and establishing new client relationships.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a bioscience discipline, with 7+ years of sales experience, ideally selling lab services to prospective customers.
- Experience selling into biotechnology or pharmaceuticals for drug discovery is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent work ethic; ability to operate autonomously in a customer-facing sales role.
- Key skills: enthusiastic and professional communicator; proactive with ideas and solutions; target-focused; full UK driving licence; willingness to learn; well-organised, confident, self-motivated, approachable.
