Job summary

Plumb Centre Derby, part of the Wolseley Group, is seeking a Sales Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service at the trade counter. You will respond to enquiries by phone and email, advise on products, and help drive branch sales while supporting warehouse duties.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with shifts Monday to Friday 07:30–16:30 and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08:00–12:00. Salary is £26,695 plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal.
• Face to Face sales and customer service experience.
• Warehouse experience.
• Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch.
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their needs and advising on products.
• Responding to customer enquiries by phone and email promptly and courteously.
• Making outbound calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Identifying and pursuing sales opportunities within the branch for new and existing customers.
• Carrying out general warehouse duties including stock control and order picking/packing.

As a Sales Assistant based in our Derby branch you’ll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 07.30am - 4.30pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.
