Job summary

A family-owned retail business in Catterick Garrison is seeking a Sales Assistant to join their team. Responsibilities include ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining store standards, and processing sales. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and a friendly personality. Training will be provided, making previous experience beneficial but not necessary. Competitive pay rates based on age and additional benefits are offered after a successful induction period.

Yorkshire Trading Company is a family‑owned business with 35 stores across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the North East, operating a busy e‑commerce platform and outdoor events teams that serve customers nationwide.

We are looking for a new member to join our sales assistant team at the Catterick store.

Location: Catterick
Hours: 16 hours per week, 4 days on rota basis with weekend coverage and occasional early mornings.

Our goal is to deliver high‑class customer service and drive growth through effective sales maximisation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
  • Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards.
  • Maintain a fully stocked store.
  • Ascertain customers' needs and wants.
  • Welcome and greet customers.
  • Process sales through our EPOS till system (training provided).
  • Actively involved in receiving deliveries.
  • Keep up to date with product information.
  • Accurately describe product features and benefits.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous retail experience beneficial but not essential – training will be provided.
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay rates (per hour)
  • Age 21+ – £12.21
  • Age 18–20 – £10.00
