The Job Role

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Sales Management Team. Your key responsibilities will cover the full customer lifecycle, from quotation to dispatch and beyond, ensuring our customers’ needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Location

Leicestershire – Office Based Full Time

Salary Package

£27,000 – £45,000 Basic Salary depending on skills and experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct sales activity and encourage additional sales with customer base.
  • Provide pricing, availability and horticultural information to the customer.
  • Promote good customer relations.
  • Assist in the process of credit control.
  • Make accurate, rapid cost calculations and provide customers with price and availability.
  • Be aware of goods in stock and assist in purchasing stock for resale and liaise with suppliers.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with new and existing customers in person, via telephone calls and emails to encourage new business.
  • Monitor any customer dissatisfaction or complaints and resolve them equitably and swiftly.
  • Gather market and customer information and feed future buying trends back to Senior Managers.
  • Represent the company at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations.
  • Review your own sales performance, aiming to meet and exceed targets.
  • Gain a clear understanding of customers’ businesses and requirements to satisfy their needs and deadlines.
  • Attend team meetings and share best practice with colleagues, working together to identify improvements to processes, standards, efficiency and profitability.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff and support colleagues, impart expertise and instil confidence.
  • Speak positively and enthusiastically about the company and its products and services to maintain a professional brand image.

Personal Situation

Must be able to commute reliably to the office and be flexible with availability, including extended hours as required.

Business and Selling Skills

Strong background in sales within the horticultural industry, familiarity with nursery stock and growing processes, and an understanding of horticultural businesses’ challenges.

Computer Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and comfortable using digital communication tools. Experience with CRM systems is a plus.

Literacy and Numeracy

Excellent numerical skills for quick, accurate cost calculations and attention to detail in pricing, stock levels, and customer orders.

Industry Background

Previous experience in a sales or customer service role within horticulture is essential. A strong understanding of horticulture, plant care, growing cycles, and nursery stock is required.

Education Requirement

All applicants must hold an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
