Cheriton Bishop & Teign Valley Practice, part of North Dartmoor PCN, are seeking a Salaried GP who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred clinical care and who enjoys working as part of a supportive, collaborative team.

We’re looking for someone who:

The role is for 4 sessions per week, with a view to increasing. These would be worked over 2 days, Thursday and Friday.

Main duties of the job

In general you will be expected undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care, including:

Totake part in clinical auditing and data collection

Contributeto QOF and IIF requirements and recording data appropriately

Attendteam meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary

1Duty session per week

3sessions of booked appointments blend of telephone appointments and face toface

HomeVisits as required

In addition, while patients at the practice are ableto consult with any GP, you will be assigned a pro-rata patient list whichallows for continuity of care for own patients.

About us

We are a 2 site dispensing practice serving approx 5,500 patients in a rural area. As a high performing practice we have a strong ethos of teamwork and peer support, we use SystmOne and are involved with teaching Registrars, Medical Students and Nurse Students. Our patient satisfaction scores remain consistently high and patients truly value our team.

You will be joining a small, close-knit practice whose team are supportive and forward thinking. Working with us will mean that you have a dedicated (and fun) clinical and admin team ready and willing to support you with the addition of 2 Physios, a Clinical Pharmacist and an ACP.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary

To work as an autonomouspractitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practicepopulation, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complyingwith the PMS contract.

Furthermore, the post holder willadhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to theeffective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining apositive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Mission Statement

We are abusy rural GP Training Practice with five doctors, an Advanced ClinicalPractitioner, Physio, Clinical Pharmacist and a GP Registrar. Our main surgery is at Cheriton Bishop andour Branch surgery at Christow. OurPractice Area covers approximately 80 square miles with 12 villages around thebeautiful landscape in and around the Dartmoor National Park.

Our aim isto give a personal, caring, efficient and friendly service to all our patients.This not only includes the management of acute illness, but a proactive,holistic and sensitive treatment of all chronic diseases, and a fullystructured preventative health program for all age groups.

Primary Key Responsibilities
  • a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • b. The provision of services commensurate with the PMS contract
  • c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • d. Management of own list of patients
  • e. Effective management of long-term conditions
  • f. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, Pathology, document management and other associated administrative tasks
  • g. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • h. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • i. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • j. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • k. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • m. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • p. Commit to self-learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • s. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
Secondary responsibilities
  • a. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach ie, root cause analysis (RCA)

Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificare or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practictioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • National Performers List Registration
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • Appropriate Defence Indemnity (MPS/MDU)
Experience
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
