SafetyWorks! Team Member – Maternity Cover Fixed Term 10 months

£32,061 to £33,699 per annum + benefits (Pro rata)

About the role

We are seeking to fill a 10‑month fixed‑term vacancy to cover maternity leave for the role of SafetyWorks Team Member.

Reporting directly to the SafetyWorks Manager, you will be responsible for delivering key fire safety and personal safety messages, working alongside multiple partners to engage school‑aged children and various community groups across Tyne and Wear.

The post holder will be based at SafetyWorks, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service’s interactive safety centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, with occasional outreach work in schools across Tyne and Wear.

You will be expected to demonstrate a firm commitment to inclusivity, fairness, dignity and the highest standards of ethical behaviour, championing these values in day‑to‑day work in compliance with our ethical code of conduct.

Responsibilities

As a SafetyWorks Team Member you will:

  • Review existing content and research promising practice, creating and updating training materials that reflect best practice and current legislation.
  • Lead practical and theoretical sessions to diverse audiences, ensuring engagement and understanding.
  • Evaluate learning outcomes through formal and informal assessment methods to measure effectiveness.
  • Complete essential documentation, maintain accurate records, and support programme coordination.
Experience and Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrable experience of:

  • Delivering training and development activities to children and young people.
  • Coordinating a wide range of activities.
  • Communicating effectively with all members of the community including children, young people, vulnerable older people and other diverse groups.
  • Developing effective partnerships.
  • Managing a high volume of administrative tasks.
