Job summary

A leading soap manufacturer is seeking a proactive Safety, Health & Environment Coordinator in Glasgow to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and to promote a positive safety culture across the organization. The ideal candidate will have NEBOSH and Internal Audit qualifications, alongside experience in manufacturing. Competitive salary of £35,000 plus benefits including 33 days holiday and pension package.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment, ideally within an SME.

  • Ensure SHE compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong SHE culture.
  • Oversee risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.

At Soapworks, we create high-quality, sustainable soap products for global brands, and we're looking for a proactive, hands-on Safety, Health & Environment Coordinator to help protect our people, processes, and planet as we scale up production. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Coordinator

Location: Glasgow / Remote Working Fridays

Salary: £35,000 per annum + 33 days holiday, rising with service

The Opportunity

Soapworks Ltd is seeking a proactive and driven Safety, Health & Environment Coordinator to champion a culture of safety and environmental excellence across our operations. You will shape, implement, and continually improve our safety, health and environment standards, aiming not only for compliance but for leadership in workplace wellbeing and environmental care. With ambitious growth plans and a new factory on the horizon, we seek someone who shares our passion for excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure SHE compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong SHE culture across all levels.
  • Develop and support SHE skills among managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Oversee risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Manage health & safety policies, procedures, records, and ISO 14001, 45001, and client standards compliance.
  • Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure timely completion of action points.
  • Monitor and communicate legislative updates and SHE performance KPIs.
  • Maintain environmental compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure personal and organizational adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Education/Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Qualification
  • Internal Audit Qualification
Experience/Skills/Knowledge
  • Experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment, ideally within an SME.
  • Knowledge of environmental practices and compliance in manufacturing/FMCG.
  • Experience with ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO45001 internal audit practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in developing and delivering engaging SHE presentations, inductions, and toolbox talks.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques is advantageous.
