The role

As a Safety Culture Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the forefront of driving behavioural and cultural transformation across one of the UK’s most critical defence sites. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on national defence while advancing your career in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development and implementation of a safety culture strategy that fosters proactive safety behaviours, improves communication, and enhances performance across all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and leading the safety culture strategy and communication improvement plan
  • Conducting assessments, surveys, workshops and interviews to measure and improve safety culture
  • Collaborating with leadership and frontline teams to promote safety awareness and engagement
  • Working with the Learning from Experience team to analyse incidents and identify improvement areas
  • Planning and delivering seminars, training and workshops across the organisation

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in large-scale behavioural and cultural change initiatives
  • Familiarity with safety culture maturity models and their application
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • Ability to influence workplace culture and drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Degree in Psychology, Human Factors or a related discipline (Extensive equivalent demonstrable experience will be considered)
