A regional educational institution in Tees Valley is looking for a Safety and Building Services Operative. This role includes campus security, first aid support, operating CCTV, and assisting with building maintenance. Candidates should hold a valid SIA badge or be willing to obtain one. Salary: NSG Business Support Scale 4, Points 18 - 19, £23,555 - £24,631 per annum
Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays
Contractual hours: 37 hours per week
Basis: Full time, Permanent
Pension: NEST
Join our dedicated team at Middlesbrough College, where we take pride in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within the college campus. The Safety and Building Services Operative role is responsible for providing an efficient and effective campus security service including the operation of the CCTV system. The post is a combination of security, porterage and building services duties. Tasks will include meeting and greeting students as they arrive at College, monitoring student behaviour and ensuring it is consistent with the college behavioural standards, and responding to student incidents, where you will need to be able to think quickly and diffuse confrontational situations. The Safety and Building Services operatives provide first aid support and manage fire evacuation procedures. Duties also include assisting with the movement of goods, equipment, and supplies within the college together with performing routine maintenance ensuring all facilities are well‑maintained.
This role involves shift working with weekly rotation between the shifts which is available annually in advance. The shift patterns for this post are currently:
06:00 – 14:30
08:00 – 16:30
13:00 – 21:30
You will be on the weekend rota around once every eight weeks.
