Job summary

A financial technology company in the UK is seeking an experienced compliance professional to oversee safeguarding practices for Electronic Money Institutions and Payment Institutions across the UK, Ireland, and Canada. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with local regulations while managing safeguarding training programs. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in compliance with knowledge of EMRs, PSRs, PSD2, and RPAA frameworks, as well as strong analytical and documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • 8 years experience in compliance, finance, treasury or payments risk with exposure to safeguarding.
  • Familiarity with EMRs, PSRs, PSD2, RPAA regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in regulated financial services or fintech environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safeguarding practices for EMI and PI in the UK, Ireland, and Canada.
  • Review daily safeguarding reconciliations and ensure operational compliance.
  • Monitor changes to safeguarding legislation and propose updates.

The Role

You'll join our International Accounting team a group of collaborative mission-driven finance and risk professionals who ensure that customer funds are always protected and regulatory standards are met across the UK Ireland and Canada. Working closely with colleagues in Treasury Compliance Legal and Engineering the team is building a unified safeguarding framework that strengthens governance and operational resilience across our global payments ecosystem. Reporting to the Head of Finance this is an exciting opportunity to help shape best-in-class safeguarding practices in a fast-moving cross-border environment.

You Will
  • Oversee safeguarding practices for Electronic Money Institutions (EMI) and Payment institutions (PI) in the UK (EMRs / PSRs) Ireland (PSD2 / EMR) and Canada (RPAA).
  • Oversee and review daily safeguarding reconciliations.
  • Maintain safeguarding procedures and ensure operational compliance with local regulations.
  • Work cross-functionally with Accounting Treasury Risk Compliance Legal and Engineering to embed safeguarding controls.
  • Support internal audits external audits and regulator requests.
  • Monitor changes to safeguarding legislation across applicable regions and propose updates.
  • Prepare and present safeguarding management information to local governance committees and the local Boards.
  • Maintain safeguarding accounts and liaise with partner financial institutions.
  • Manage safeguarding training programs for applicable regulated entities
You Have
  • 8 years experience in compliance finance treasury or payments risk with exposure to safeguarding or fund segregation controls.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks : EMRs PSRs PSD2 RPAA.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated financial services fintech or EMI / PI environment.
  • Ability to manage cross-border regulatory compliance with limited supervision.
Desirable
  • Prior experience with safeguarding audits or remediation projects.
  • ACA or similar accounting qualification or ICA or similar compliance certification.
