A historic religious institution is seeking a member for its Safeguarding Committee. The role involves overseeing safeguarding practices, attending meetings, and reviewing policies. Applicants with experience or interest in safeguarding, social care, or related fields are encouraged. This is a voluntary role with expenses reimbursed and includes training and support.
Canterbury Cathedral is the cathedral of the archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Located in Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site.
As a member of the Safeguarding Committee, you will help oversee and support the Cathedrals safeguarding practices, ensuring they reflect best standards and promote a culture of safety, transparency, and care. You will work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and external partners to uphold the Cathedrals commitment to safeguarding children, vulnerable adults, and all members of the community.
We welcome applications from individuals with experience or interest in safeguarding, social care, education, health, law enforcement, or related fields. You do not need to be an expert just someone with integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to protecting others.
This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Training and support will be provided.
